So many things they forget to tell you
While you’re growing up
Like how difficult life can be
We all know it takes so much more
Than just showing up
What they don’t teach you
Is what comes
After you graduate
That first job offer
Might not be best
So you might need to wait
Instead of just biting that
Shiny, enticing bait
Just understand that
Even if you make a mistake
It's never too late
For to reinvent yourself
Is simply a change of state
What they leave out
Of the conversation
Is how being an adult is hard
But the pros far outweigh the cons
When you realize you’ve already come so far
Each passing year
Is so much more than just
Cards and a birthday cake
We experience the peaks and valleys
Life throws at us
Whether we’re asleep or we're awake
But the choices we make
The actions and decisions
After these challenges and heartbreaks
Are what ultimately can
Be moments of make or break
Maybe
If you’re reading this
They didn’t tell you either
So I’m here to tell you
Always be your biggest believer
Don’t strive to be the world’s
Biggest achiever
But rather live fully
So that you can look in the mirror
And say “I made myself so proud today”
Not “I’m just a people pleaser”
What they don’t mention
Is how to create your own manifestation
The visualizations you see in your mind
Are more than just figments of your imagination
Those original ideas can be the catalyst of change
For an entire generation
So the next time you find yourself
Lost in anxious thought
Breathe deeply and look up
The sky will show you everything
You should have been but were never taught
Sure, they don’t tell you
Everything that will come
But if there’s one thing I learned on this journey
It’s to never forget where you came from
Always be true to yourself
Be bold, don’t be afraid to
March to the beat of your own drum
Because nobody else truly knows
Just how magnificent you will become
